Movies

I went to the movies tonight with my brother. We saw King Kong. I think Public Enemy said it best, Don't Believe the Hype. I found it long and uninteresting. I did not like Jack Black I really don't like his style. Then Naomi Watts is very pretty but I think that Peter Jackson focused on the wrong features. I thought Adrian Brody did a very good job though. The other problem was the over use of CGI it was just bam dinosaurs, bam Kong, bam crabs, bam more dinosaurs, bam bats, bam bam bam.

Worse yet were the previews. I heard my favorite song "Ball and Chain" used for a Vince Vaughn Jennifer Anniston movie, this greatly saddened me. Then I saw that Tom Hanks is starring in the Da Vinci Code movie, which is bad since I hate Tom Hanks.

Straight Edge

Straight Edge - no drugs, no sex, no alcohol

What is it about the ideas of straight edge that interest me? Maybe it is the fact that originally it was a way to simplify your life. It was originally started because people were taking so many drugs that they could no longer remember things like meting Jimi Hendrix. Maybe its the radical politics that it preaches. Maybe its just the music. Probably its a combination of all three and my new found dislike for drinking and drugs.

Now I am not going to claim to be edge for life or go hardline or anything like that. I just think that it is a better idea than most people give it credit for.

Top 5 Songs
Minor Threat - straight Edge
gorilla biscuits - Start today
7 seconds - Walk together, Rock Together
Rise Against - A life Less Frightening
Refused - New Noise

all by bands with straight edge members or straight Edge groups

Random stuff

I didn't go to the football game sorry guys

I had to stay home and rest so I can take the SAT tomorrow and recover from basketball

Good Luck Team

In other news, today in AP Gov we talked about the upcoming special election for congressman Cox seat. This is not at all interesting to me since I live in a different district and really I have no say since I am too young to vote and it is outside my district. I seriously doubt that the candidates I want will be elected since they are: Democrat and Green party respectively. Thus I just sorta sit there and attempt to participate with the mild interest I have. Yet I couldn't help but be intrigued by Jim Gilchrist. I can't describe what I think about him so here's the link with all candidates

Next topic something that you all want to read about:

PAUL WALKER

A C- list celebrity who is achieving super stardom at SMES

Lastly and probably my favorite part:

top 5 songs for 12/2/05
1. War's End - Rancid
2. Welcome to the Working Week - Elvis Costello
3. Chesterfield King - Jawbreaker
4. Jude Law and Semester Abroad - Brand New
5. Drawing A Line in the Sand - Brandtson

holy shit

Ever have those moments, the moment where you read or see something and the pen drops out of your mouth? I had it a minute ago, I was reading a persons blog and Listening to a song by Ben Lee. Ben Lee is a very good Australian musician but is not well known. Any way as I was listeing to it and reading this kids blog about how he does not have adventerous music tastes, I read that he likes a song by Ben Lee. Thus reminding me that people do know about artists I love. And these aren't artists like the Rolling Stones or the Clash who everyone knows about. Lee is a truely indie artist.
I don't normally consider myself an elitest. I do not look down on the girl in the mall buying the 50 cent album or Fall out Boy or whatever MTV is playing because they don't know any better. Most peoples parnets have terrible taste, while mine have better taste but not great. To prove this I am willing to challenge everyone to have thier parnets name a song by Joy Division or if they have ever seen the Meat Puppets preform. It has just been my environment. I mean for god sake my dadvought me Joe Jackson's Look Sharp in 7th grade because he knew that I would like it as a freshman. My mom and I sang Frank Zappa on the way to a horse show the other day, if that isn't cool then I dont know what is. Anyway as I was reading this kids list I was seeing artists that I expected Damien Rice, Death Cab for Cutie, Iron and Wine, etc. and then there was Ben Lee. I was shocked and a little upset since I wanted him to be my kinda secret kinda public, personal band. And when I saw that I knew he could no longer be this.

More importantly I have a long red mark on my brand new pink polo.

Ps. If you don't knwo any of the artists in the blog don't worry your not alone most people don't

2. The Replacements - Alex Chilton
3. Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot

5. Leonard Cohen - Famous Blue Raincoat
6. Generation X- Kiss me Deadly
7. Betty Everett - It's in His Kiss
8. Pavement - Cut Your Hair

Last Night I watched Punk:Attitude! it was actually a very good movie. Not only did it talk about what everyone always wants to hear about which is the birth of punk, but also the lesser known bands and the genres that spun off of punk. It actually talked about No Wave which is a genre of music that I expect no one to know about. But anyway I think you all shoudl see it to learn about punk beyond sex pistols, the clash and the ramones. Not that they aren't great bands but htere were other punk bands around, and some of them did really interesting things.

welcome

I was reading Rolands blog and Tommys blog and Clemmons blog and decided I might aswell join the fun. Plus this si a way for me to keep track of my scattered mind. It will not be updated any where nearly as often as the other peoples blogs but maybe it will. Most of my blogs I am willing to bet will deal with music, literature, and art work. Mostly becasue that is what I like. I'd say about half the blogs will end up being assorted playlists that I make at 1 am instead of doing an english essay or spanish homework. Any way enjoy All of Tomorrow's Parties.
